A great option to extend your visit to Nepal and experience more of its diversity, is to add on a short extension trip and spend a few days on safari in Chitwan National Park in the south of Nepal. Fly or drive from Kathmandu and spend a couple of days exploring the jungle and spotting some of the rare and protected species that live here, including the One Horned Rhino, Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephants, Sloth Bear and many more animal and bird species. You’ll also have the chance to learn more about the local Tharu culture. You’ll be accompanied by expert local naturalist guides with safaris by foot, jeep and boat.
We also offer the opportunity to enjoy a village homestay and other options within the National Park and offer accommodation options from luxury lodges to more simple options – ask us for details.
It's time to depart Kathmandu and head south! If you've chosen to fly to Chitwan, you'll be picked up this morning for the short flight (around 25 minutes) from Kathmandu Airport to Bharatpur where you'll be met on arrival for the transfer to your safari lodge. If you've chosen to drive, you'll be picked up from your hotel for the drive of around 5 hours to reach Chitwan, in time for lunch. However you've chosen to travel, after check in and lunch, enjoy an afternoon of safari activities including nature walks and jeep safaris. Rest and relax overnight at your comfortable safari lodge. The majority of the lodges are outside the National Park boundary but there are a few options to stay inside the Park overnight which gives even more opportunity to see the animals late night and early morning,
Today is a full day of safari activities accompanied by your naturalist guide. Activities including nature walks, boating along the peaceful Rapti river - a relaxing way to get close up to some of the smaller and aquatic animals and birds, and jeep safaris deep into the jungle to spot some of the rare and protected species that live here - including the rare One Horned Rhino, the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Asian Elephant, the Sloth Bear, various deer and monkey species and numerous bird species and smaller animals and insects. We'll take a packed lunch with us today as we'll be travelling in the jungle and want to make the most of our time. Later this evening we'll return to your safari lodge where your evening is free to enjoy dinner and rest and relax.
Enjoy a morning of safari activities or relaxing and exploring locally before it's time to depart Chitwan. If flying you'll be transferred to Bharatpur Airport for your short 25 minute flight back to Kathmandu or if driving it's around 5 to 6 hours approximately, depending on traffic as we approach Kathmandu. Overnight Kathmandu.
