This morning after breakfast it's time to begin your tour starting with a visit to Old Delhi. The tour will begin with a visit to Raj Ghat, a simple memorial to
Mahatma Gandhi. After this we'll drive past the Red Fort and on to Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques, which is viewed from the
outside. People stream in and out of the mosque continuously and the presence of a nearby
bazaar means that the area is rarely quiet. From here enjoy a rickshaw ride through the busy old Delhi market
to experience the surrounding area and visit the Spice market.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before starting your afternoon tour of Imperial Delhi, including a visit to the Qutub Minar, the tallest stone tower in India at 72.5 m high and one of the finest Islamic structures in India. From here, continue to Humayun’s tomb, built by the widow of the second Mughal Emperor, Humayun, it is an
outstanding monument in the Indo-Persian style, a precursor of the Taj Mahal. The tour also
includes a drive past the imposing India Gate, the Parliament building and the Rashtrapati
Bhawan, the President’s residence.
You also have the choice to add one or more optional activities today - available on request and at additional charge.
Add on a walking culinary tour and get a taste of India on a morning tour of Chandni Chowk. Wander through the maze of narrow alleys and
gain an insight into the city’s rhythm and heritage. The tour stops for regular tastings of delicious street food, ending with authentic Indian
lunch in an atmospheric old private mansion called "Masterji Kee Haveli" . Delhi's historic
mansions were usually built around a cool central courtyard and decorated with colourful and
elaborate frescoes.
Another option today is to take a cycling tour of Old Delhi in the early morning. Cycle through old narrow lanes, with
congested houses on both sides of the lanes and an array of cable wires above. The smell of
brewing tea and breakfast curry will accompany you as you cycle through the streets of Delhi's coexistence of past and future. On your cycling tour you'll visit the Jama Masjid, the spice market and cycle past the Red Fort. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the famous Kareem’s restaurant.
